Hackers Shut Down Vatican City Website Against Pope’s Comment
Turkish hacker shut down Vatican City official website against Pope Francis’ remarks in which he used the word ‘genocide’ to refer to mass killings of Armenians by Turks.
The website was taken down just an hour ago after which the Turkish attacker (going with the handle of @THTHerakles) announced that he will keep targeting the site until an apology is issued from the Vatican City.
In an exclusive conversation, hacker told HackRead that Pope’s comments are unacceptable, he is a religious figure which we respect. However, biased comments and calling what happened with Armenians was a genocide is not true.
“We want pope to apologize for his words or we will make sure the website remains offline”, he added.
It’s not just the Turkish hackers community furious over Pope’s remark, even the country’s government is not happy with what Pope said.
In a tweet, the Turkey’s Foreign Minister “Mevlut Cavusoglu” called the Pope’s use of the word “unacceptable” and “out of touch with both historical facts and legal basis.”
“Religious offices are not places through which hatred and animosity are fueled by unfounded allegations,” according to his tweet.
At the time of publishing this article, the Vatican website was redirected to another server.
