GARDAI have seized close to €1million worth of drugs and three men have been arrested in a crackdown on a west Dublin crime gang.

Officers from the Clondalkin Garda Station’s drugs unit swooped on a property in Kilwarden Court, Clondalkin earlier today.

They found more than €1million worth of heroin, cannabis and cocaine.

Three men were arrested by officers probing the activities of the Clondalkin based mob.

The men were last night being held in garda stations in Clondalkin and Ballyfermot where they will be quizzed about the seizure.

A source told the Irish Sun: “This seizure will cause major disruption for the drugs gang in Dublin.

The drugs have an estimated value of €920k

“Gardai have been investigating the gang for a long time and today landed a major blow against this local drug ring.”

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: “As part of an on going operation targeting a West Dublin drugs gang, Gardaí from the Ballyfermot/Clondalkin Detective & Drugs Units seized 23 kilos of herbal cannabis(subject to analysis) in the grounds of an apartment block during a handover.

“A follow-up search in one of the apartments resulted in the seizure of 1kg of heroin, 3.5kgs of cocaine and 10kgs of cannabis resin( all subject to analysis).

“The total value of the drugs seized is app. €920,000.

“Three males aged in their 30s, 40s and 60s, are currently detained at Clondalkin and Ballyfermot Garda stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 as amended.”
