VETS have been unable to save a male dog which was horrifically gang-raped and left in a pool of blood with mutilated genitals, say reports.

The dog – found howling in pain near a church in India – died during his third day of medical treatment because of heavy bleeding and having his internal organs exposed during the attack.

Dr Anika Pathak, founder of the animal charity Animals Matter To Me, told Mirror Now that the pooch had been too seriously wounded to survive.

His legs and genitals were injured to the point that medication could not save him.

The brutalised animal was said to have been found with its legs tied together outside the Malwani Church in Mumbai, India, on Saturday.

Sudha Fernandes, who used to feed the dog, saw him lying in a pool of blood near the church.

A rickshaw driver told Fernandes he had seen the dog, the type and age of which is not known, being sexually abused by four men.

He heard the dog crying with pain as the men were allegedly raping him, but they ran away when he approached them.

It was claimed the suspected animal sex beasts were drunk and tied the dog's legs before carrying out their vile attack.

The animal welfare charity took the severely traumatised and injured dog to a vet for treatment.

Vets believe the attackers had tried to fold the dog's hind legs towards his pelvic bone.

Mirror Now reports that as a result of his severe injuries, his body caught infections, and he died on the third day of treatment in the practice.

It is not yet known if a police investigation has been launched.
