Flooded crossings between Corroboree and Mount Bundy test drivers
TERRITORIANS are no strangers to flooded roads at this time of the year and so it proved for these motorists on New Year’s Day.
Valentin Martinez was headed home to Jabiru with his family when he encountered two submerged crossings between Corroboree and Mount Bundy.
Mr Martinez estimated the water at the first crossing to be about 60cm deep and said the current was fast.
He said the water level at the second crossing seemed deeper and covered a lot more of the road.
Mr Martinez drove his Prado through without issue but said some others weren’t as lucky.
Several cars were waiting for the water to settle, including some towing boats.
“You need to be careful when it rains because these things can develop quickly and can be dangerous,” he said.
“People shouldn’t attempt to cross if they don’t feel confident and if they don’t have the right vehicle.”
He said the water had subsided at both crossings by the following day.
