WASHINGTON, April 5 - RIA Novosti, Tatyana Kalmykova. Europe does not intend to change or supplement the agreement with Iran on the nuclear program in defiance of the US aspirations. This was reported to RIA Novosti by a high-ranking European distiller working in Washington.

According to him, Europe is ready to discuss such issues as the ballistic missile development program and Tehran's activities in the region, in isolation from the concluded deal.

Very soon, on May 12, an important deadline is approaching, when US President Donald Trump will announce on the basis of discussions between the United States and three European countries - Great Britain, Germany, France - whether Washington remains in the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (VCPR) on Iran's nuclear program.

The agreement was developed by the Six (Britain, Germany, Russia, China, the United States and France) and Iran in mid-July 2015. Under this deal, the US also adopted its domestic law "On the consideration of a nuclear agreement with Iran." According to him, the American leader is obliged to extend or not to renew the regime of lifting sanctions from Iran every 90 days.

Trump has stated from the time of the pre-election campaign that the deal with Iran is bad and it should be immediately withdrawn from it, but so far it has not reached the real steps. However, on January 12, the US president made a move as a knight - he said that the US remains in the SVPD, but promised to withdraw from it if European countries can not "rectify the monstrous shortcomings of the agreement." After that, negotiations began between the Americans and the European trio on this issue.

An expert on Iran under the Atlantic Council Barbara Slavin told RIA Novosti that the chances that Trump will exit the agreement are 70 by 30.

The disagreement of Europe

Now the Europeans are very much under pressure from the overseas, as the deal with Iran, which the Six countries have been trying to work out for a long time, is at stake.

Back in November last year, the head of EU diplomacy, Federica Mogerini, while in Washington, said that the EU had significantly increased trade and investment in Iran as a result of reaching an agreement.

Knowing this, Trump actually set a trap for Europe, and in case of failure in agreements with Europeans, the responsibility for the collapse of the Joint Action Plan will be shared among the countries.

It is worth noting that the RTCA was approved by UN Security Council Resolution 2231, and any changes should be approved by the Security Council. Without the connection of Russia and Iran, they will be invalid.

A European diplomat working in Washington told RIA Novosti that Europe "does not consider the possibility" of changing the deal or developing an additional agreement to it, as the Americans insist.

Earlier in the negotiations with the European trio, the Director of the State Department's political planning, Brian Hook, said that Trump had instructed to reach an additional agreement with Europeans before May 12 that would correct the shortcomings of the deal already in place. In an interview with RIA Novosti, US diplomats stressed that "if at any time the president decides that an agreement (with Europeans - Ed.) Is unattainable, the US will withdraw immediately from the deal."

However, this approach does not coincide with the position of the allies of the Americans.

"This is not the position of Europe," the diplomat confirmed.

He added that it was not an additional agreement that was being negotiated, but issues that went beyond the framework of the WFDD.

Answering the question why, in his opinion, Russia and China were not invited to the talks, the European diplomat explained that the participation of these countries, as well as Iran, would be necessary in case of intentions to change the agreement, but this is not the situation. At least from the European point of view.

However, the diplomat did not rule out the possibility in the future to work out a new agreement that would fix certain provisions, whose validity expires in a few years in the framework of the SVPD.

In general, describing the course of discussions with the Americans, he summed up that "it is too early to say what will come of it."

German ambassador to the US Peter Wittig told RIA Novosti that the Europeans are trying to keep the deal.

"We are working hard to save the agreement," the diplomat said.

In the US National Security Council on the agency's request to comment on whether it is possible to conclude an agreement with the Europeans that would not affect the nuclear deal with Iran, they recommended turning to Hook's past statements.

The "gray zone" of the nuclear agreement

The expert on Iran, Barbara Slavin, considers the possibility of the possibility that Trump will not extend the regime of lifting sanctions from Iran on May 12, but it will not mean that his administration will necessarily try to return these sanctions against Tehran.

"We can join the next" gray zone "in which US officials will try to get the Europeans to agree to new tough measures against Iran and at the same time will not rush to actions that only European governments and companies would set themselves against," - believes the interlocutor of the agency.

But there is also the possibility that Trump will remain in the agreement and the Europeans will take a package of measures sufficient to announce his victory, Slavin said.

The expert suggested that during the upcoming visit to Washington of French President Emmanuel Macron on April 24, this issue will be discussed and he "will definitely try to convince Trump to accept what the euro trio is agreeing to."

And of course, the US withdrawal from the agreement with Iran is unlikely to have a positive impact on the possibility of organizing a summit with North Korea, whose idea was enthusiastically endorsed by Trump.

On the other hand, Slavin reminded that John Bolton, the future national security adviser, and Mike Pompeo, who will become the US Secretary of State in the case of Senate approval, will soon take key positions in the administration. They are known for their extremely tough opposition to an agreement with Iran on the nuclear program.

Some experts say that Bolton and Pompeo will be more willing to comply with Trump's wishes, while former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and ex-national security adviser Herbert McMaster served as a kind of deterrent trying to dissuade the president from completely destroying the deal with Iran .
