AN England football legend's dad has allegedly been charged with rape and sexual abuse of four children, reports claim.

Prosecutors allege the man repeatedly attacked two girls under the age of 13 and two under 16 in the 1970s and 80s.

He pleaded not guilty to nine sexual abuse charges during a court hearing this month, reported The Mirror.

Court officials confirmed the pensioner is due to go on trial in August, and faces a maximum life sentence if he is convicted.

The football star's dad reportedly said of the child sex allegations: “It never happened."

He is charged with four counts of rape, one attempted rape, three indecent assaults and one count of buggery.

On top of those charges, he is charged with indecently assaulting the same youngster at least ten times over the same period.

Three more of the reported charges relate to claims he sexually abused the same alleged victim when she was an adult.

One of the alleged victims is a girl who was under 16 when she claims she was raped “on at least ten separate occasions” by the man in the late 1970s.

He was granted bail after appearing before magistrates earlier this year.

A police spokesman told The Mirror: "Four of those charges relate to offences committed when the victims were under 16.

“He was also charged with the attempted rape of one of those three female victims, and the indecent assault of a fourth female when she was under 16.

“The alleged offences were committed in the 1970s and 1980s.”
