CRISTIANO Ronaldo will be kept away from a tournament in America amid fears he will be detained in a rape probe.

The star, 34, was accused last September of sexually assaulting Kathryn Mayorga, 35, in Las Vegas in 2009.

Ronaldo, who plays for Italian giants Juventus, says the sex was consensual. Most games in this summer’s International Champions Cup will take place in America.

But organisers have conspired to ensure Juventus, who have a long-standing agreement to take part, will play theirs in Asia.

The matches will most likely be in China and Singapore, where Juventus will be joined by Man Utd and Spurs.

Sources told the New York Times that five-times World Player of the Year Ronaldo’s legal troubles played a role in shaping plans for Juventus’ participation.

A spokesman for the club, who are set to win an eighth straight Serie A title, insisted that “going east” to Asia was normal after spending recent pre- seasons in the cup in America.

Last year Juventus played in New Jersey, Philadelphia and Landover in Maryland.
