Simferopol, February 12 - RIA Novosti. The Ukrainian special services are stepping up their activities in the Crimea on the eve of the presidential election, the head of the Public Chamber of the Republic, Grigory Ioffe, told RIA Novosti.

In Crimea, commented on the incident with a Ukrainian spy in Simferopol
Earlier, the Russian Federal Security Service reported on the detention of Ukrainian citizen Konstantin Davydenko in Simferopol, suspected of spying for the benefit of Ukrainian special services. It is noted that Davydenko purposefully collected and transmitted to the special services of Ukraine the state secret information about the activities of units and formations of Rosgvardia and against FSB officers whose leakage abroad could damage the security of the Russian Federation. On this fact a case was brought under the article "espionage".

"The Ukrainian special services are stepping up their activities in the Crimea on the eve of the upcoming elections, so we must be ready not only for our special services, but all Crimeans should take part in this and expose these people," Ioffe said.

According to him, the Ukrainian special services can rely on saboteurs and spies.

"We need to remember how the organization that was called the Smersh (the abbreviation" Death to Spies! "- the name of counterintelligence organizations in the Soviet Union during the Second World War) operated during the war years," Ioffe stressed.

The presidential election will be held on March 18, 2018.
