BLACK cab rape fiend John Worboys has been rushed to hospital with “crippling” stomach pains, The Sun can reveal.

The monster, 61, told prison officers at Wakefield top security jail, West Yorks, he was in agony on Wednesday afternoon.

He was whisked from his cell and taken to a nearby A&E ward under heavy guard, where medics diagnosed appendicitis.

Last night the beast, convicted in 2009 of 19 offences against 12 women, was recovering after treatment. Sources said he had almost certainly undergone an op to remove his appendix to prevent it from bursting - a complication which can prove fatal.

A source said: “Worboys was in a terrible way and was doubled up in pain. If it’s not caught early enough you can die. Without the alert attention of prison officers and doctors, it could have been much more serious.”

Worboys sparked a Parole Board scandal earlier this year after a panel incredibly ordered he go free straight from top security conditions. Outraged victims took legal action to block his release and won their landmark case.

And The Sun also won a judicial review bid to reveal the reasons behind the decision. Our victory led to Justice Secretary David Gauke ripping up Parole Board secrecy rules forever.

Worboys already faces a slew of fresh sex assault claims. He was quizzed by cops inside prison in August over a “number” of fresh allegations dating from 1997 to 2007. It means he could face new charges and another trial.

And if convicted, he could spend years more behind bars. Patients who have their appendix removed typically leave hospital after a couple of days.

The tissue is routinely sent to an NHS lab to be tested for cancer, although complications are rare.
