BitDefender internal audit finds Amazon AWS API keys may have leaked
Romanian security company BitDefender appears to have detected the possibility of an exposure of Amazon API Keys judging by an email template for its customers.
The news was broken by well-known British security researcher Kevin Beaumont who said in a tweet: "BitDefender have had a breach to do with their BitDefender Security-as-a-Service for AWS product."
A template for the email said that during an internal security review, BitDefender had discovered that "your Amazon AWS API key associated with your GravityZone Cloud account might have been inadvertently exposed".
"If as per our installation guidelines you generated the key to allow a limited set of read-only operations, there should be no impact.
"Nonetheless, we recommend that you renew the AWS API key associated with your GravityZone appliance by following the steps detailed below."
