ANT McPartlin has returned to Twitter after several months away from social media.

The TV presenter sent a sweet message to an ill fan from his and Declan Donnelly's joint account.

It read: "Hey @ RoarForJess, just a little tweet to send you huge love and a big ROAR!!!"

The tweet was then signed: "Big hugs and lots of love from us both A&D xxx."

Dec has been running the joint account by himself over the last few months as Ant has spent time in rehab following his drink driving conviction.

The tweet comes after ITV confirmed Ant WILL return to TV "when he is well and fit enough."

In an interview with ITV News, the channel's Chief Executive Carolyn McCall said there was no pressure to rush his recovery.

She said: "He will come back when he’s well and and when he is ready to come back...

"ITV will not be putting him under any pressure to come back unless he’s well and fit enough to come back."

She was then asked: " But he will be retuning to the channel?"

McCall responded: "As far as I know, that is true."

Ant was convicted of drink-driving following a car crash in London in March and he went to rehab to focus on his recovery.

The telly star admitted he was battling alcohol issues and vowed to turn his life around.

He is taking some much-needed time off and pulled out of all his TV work, including Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain's Got Talent and I'm A Celebrity.

Ant's longtime presenting partner Declan Donnelly was left to host both Saturday Night Takeaway and BGT along.

However, he was praised for his strength and for doing such a good job solo.

As well as battling addiction issues, Ant is also going through a divorce from his wife Lisa Armstrong, which is also feared to have taken a toll on his emotional wellbeing.

But he has embarked on a new relationship with former PA Anne-Marie Corbett.

The couple enjoyed a double date night with Ant's best pal Dec and his pregnant wife, Ali Astall, on Friday.
