SMIRKING hate preacher Anjem Choudary today left his bail hostel to go to a solicitors as he plots an appeal against his strict licence conditions.

The Islamist extremist is staying at the north London hostel after serving a little over half of a five year sentence for whipping up support for Islamic State.

He stepped out with a mystery burka-clad woman yesterday - believed to be his wife Rubana - and spent an hour inside a high street solicitors' office.

Choudary, 51, is reportedly applying for legal aid funding to bring a case against the state - accusing Britain of breaching his human rights.

He wants some of his tough 25-strong licence conditions toned down.

The list includes rules on who he can associate with, which mosque to attend and using the internet.

The terror preacher returned to the hostel clutching a blue plastic bag with baklava cakes and a can of cola inside.

Wearing a white Islamic gown, he smirked as he brazenly strolled down a packed high street in the capital - ignoring abuse shouted at him from passers-by.

One threatened: “Your cards are marked Choudary, you scum bag.”

Choudary is controversially spending the remainder of his sentence on probation - and is under a strict curfew and electronic tag.

The security operation to keep tabs on him is thought to cost taxpayers around £2million.

His wife Rubana, 43, previously admitted being the leader of the female wing of Choudary’s banned terrr group Al-Muhajiroun.

She faced a Scotland Yard counter terror inquiry in 2015 but the probe was later dropped.
