Post Using same account name on different trackers

Using the same name on multiple trackers is a really bad idea. It happens a lot.. people get attached to a favourite nick name or more than anything are lazy. Remembering one user name is easier than remember multiple names. But it has two particularly serious consequences.

You may think that you're a great user and will never get banned anywhere. Nevertheless if something happens, your hard drive fails, you have to go out of town suddenly. You simply get busy. Or a tracker mistakes you for a bad guy. So you get banned at one tracker. Well.. trackers talk to each other. If you use the same user name or email across multiple tracker you may find one upset tracker turns into half a dozen bans. Does it still sound like a great idea?

Second, there are a lot of people out there that will try to guess passwords or otherwise steal your tracker accounts. Using the same name elsewhere makes you more likely to be hacked. And at a guess if you use the same name on multiple sites, then you are probably using the same email.. or a very limited number of emails there as well. if your email gets hacked, you are likely to loose a bunch of trackers, rather than just one.

There are a lot of other reasons as well, but those two alone should discourage you from using the same name all over the place. Using unique user names isn't that hard with password managers and single login software these days. And using different names at each tracker is the minimum you should do if you value your tracker accounts at all.

Good post. It makes sense to user different names. If you have a lot of trackers and can not remember the names. Use autofill on your browser and save the info. Or if you have multiple users on your pc you could always save your user names and passwords on you phones notes app. thats what I do.

My oppinion having different usernames on the trackers is not so relevant. I have the same username on lot of trackers and I wasn't banned on one of them and then on a bunch of trackers. Due to inactivity I was disabled on some trackers, but this doesnt mean I am not a good user on another trackers.
With different passwords I agree in some situations, but it's a little bit difficult to memorize them.
