TOBY Price is no stranger to the Tatts Finke Desert Race history books but after the 2018 edition of the famous race, he now has his own chapter.

Price blitzed the field on the final day of racing, crossing the finish line first for his sixth King of the Desert title.

The KTM Team rider moves ahead of Randall Gregory for the most bike titles of all time with the win, a stunning feat given Price competed in both the bike and car class of the 2018 race.

The Finke legend was forced to withdraw from the car category early on day two with his Geiser built 6L V8 Chev 360cc suffering mechanical issues.

That setback didn’t affect him on two wheels however, cruising to victory and making history in the process.

Starting first from the grid after edging out Ivan long in prologue, Price’s KTM was the first bike into Finke on Sunday afternoon before holding his lead on Monday.

Alice Springs local David Walsh put together a stellar run on day one, beginning the race from 28th position before being the second bike into Finke.

It was Price, however, who led the field into Finke, starting just over four minutes ahead of Walsh.

That gap proved more than enough for the former Dakar Rally champion, holding his nerve to be the first bike back into Alice Springs.

David Walsh held onto second position to once again finish on the podium of his home town race.

Walsh has now finished the famous Desert Race in second three times, all behind Toby Price.

The Alice Springs legend bounced back from a Did Not Finish result in 2018, finishing just six minutes behind Toby Price.

Fellow Centralian Luke Hayes did not have the same luck in 2018 that saw him finish on the podium last year, with the KTM rider forced to retire on day one with mechanical issues.
