Building on an overnight score 233 for 3, India A tallied 417 in the first innings against South Africa A at Mysore before reducing the visitors to 159 for 5 by stumps on the second day. Wriddhiman Saha (60), Shivam Dube (68) and Jalaj Saxena (48*) were among the runs for India A before Shahbaz Nadeem and Kuldeep Yadav picked two wickets apiece later in the day, confirming India's hold on the second unofficial Test.

Karun Nair couldn't add to his overnight tally and was out in the second over of the day to Wiaan Mulder, who ended up with three wickets in the innings. From thereon, Dube put on 47 with Saha for the fifth wicket and 83 with Saxena for the sixth, before he became Mulder's third wicket. At 349 for 6 then, Saxena worked with the tail to take the score to 417 even as Dane Piedt razed through with three wickets. Umesh Yadav scored 24 off 13 in a cameo that included two fours and two sixes.

In response, South Africa A lost Pieter Malan to Mohammed Siraj in the fourth over before Aiden Markram and Theunis de Bruyn put on 82-run stand for the second wicket. By stumps, Markram was unbeaten on 83, scoring his runs at a fairly quick strike-rate (59.29), as de Bruyn himself, who scored 41 off 54 before being bowled by Nadeem. India A picked quick wickets from then. Nadeem struck again in the same spell with Khaya Zondo's wicket. Kuldeep Yadav struck twice later in the day, accounting for Senuran Muthusamy and Heinrich Klaasen.
