The Seahawks kiboshed an effort by the Packers to lure GM John Schneider from Seattle to Green Bay, but the Packers' pursuit of the executive may not be over, NFL Network is reporting.

While Schneider’s contract with the Seahawks runs through 2021 and does not include a clause for him to leave for Green Bay, the Packers could continue their bid by offering Seattle a trade.

Schneider said when his extension through 2021 was signed that it does not contain an out clause for GB. Only a trade could change things now. https://t.co/i7LJ9JiMe8

Upon the Packers removing Ted Thompson from the GM role, speculation immediately turned to Schneider.

Schneider grew up a Packers fan living six miles from Lambeau Field. He worked for the team as a scout from 1993–96, and then as assistant GM from 2002–07 and director of football operations from 2008-09. Yes, he has a deal in place with the Seahawks, but contracts are often broken.

“Don't for a minute think Seahawks owner Paul Allen won't allow Schneider to talk to the Packers about becoming their next GM,” King 5 News wrote.

“Until Schneider comes out and says he's staying in Seattle, nothing's off the table.”
