SYDNEY fans will be watching a bigger Buddy Franklin in 2019, with a new and improved supersized scoreboard at the SCG to become the biggest in the southern hemisphere.

The new scoreboard, which will be located in the Dally Messenger Stand, will nearly double its current size and will stand at a gigantic 443.5 square metres from next season.

Sydney's previous scoreboard had held the record as the biggest in the southern hemisphere when it was last redeveloped in 2013, before being overtaken by the Perth's new Optus Stadium scoreboard when the ground was opened earlier this year.

However, the Swans will move quickly to reclaim the title, with the SCG's other scoreboard in the Churchill Stand to also be upgraded as part of the ground's redevelopment.

"We are constantly looking for ways to improve the match-day experience for our members and supporters and the improved scoreboards will be a great addition to the stadium for season 2019 and beyond," Sydney's head of customer and community Natalie Fagg said.

"The new scoreboards will create a visual experience never seen before at the SCG, which will complement the audio upgrade recently undertaken.

"The improved scoreboards are one of a number of new initiatives Swans fans can look forward to at the SCG next season."
