Juventus are closing in on a loan agreement for Genoa's Tomas Rincon, Goal can confirm, with the midfielder set to undergo a medical with the Italian champions on Thursday.

A short-term deal that was first mooted by Sky Sport Italia is being put in place that will include an obligation to push through a permanent €8 million transfer at the end of the season.

He boasts useful Serie A experience from two-and-a-half years spent with Genoa and is also a senior Venezuela international with 77 caps to his name.

And while he appears set to join the star-studded ranks in Turin, he is not the only addition Juve are looking to make.

The reigning Italian champions have been pursuing Zenit St Petersburg’s Axel Witsel for some time, with the Belgium international another expected to be on the move over the coming weeks.

His contract is running down in Russia and no extension will be signed.

Witsel has plenty of suitors across Europe – including Chelsea and Everton – but Juve have led the hunt for his services and remain keen despite preparing to complete the capture of Rincon.
