The Premier League has announced that Susanna Dinnage will not succeed Richard Scudamore as chief executive, despite saying in November that she would be doing so.

Last month, the Premier League said Dinnage would leave her role as global president for Animal Planet at Discovery to replace Scudamore early next year after he steps down from the position.

But in a statement, the Premier League said: "Despite her commitment to the Premier League in early November, Susanna Dinnage has now advised the nominations committee that she will not be taking up the position of chief executive.

Scudamore has been in his role at the top division in English football since 2014, having served as chief executive from 1999.

The Premier League said in November it had decided to split his role, with Dinnage taking over as chief executive and the appointment of a non-executive chair to be made.
