Penrith powerhouse Reagan Campbell-Gillard has suffered a pre-season setback after fracturing his jaw during training on Monday.

It’s horrible news for the prop who suffered the same injury six months ago playing against the Sydney Roosters, but according to Panthers general manager Phil Gould, the fracture is in a different spot and not as serious.

“He will see (the) surgeon to make sure, but we anticipate no surgery required,” Gould posted to Twitter on Monday.

“He won’t be chewing his food during the Christmas break. But he will be right for trial matches.”

The 25-year-old has played 91 games for the Panthers since making his debut in 2015.

A player with a plenty of talent, Campbell-Gillard has already represented both Australia and NSW.

He made his debut for the Blues in Origin I this year, but he was ruled out for the remainder of the series due to the first jaw break.

The Panthers’ first trial game is against South Sydney on February 23, with their second fixture against Parramatta on March 2.
