John-Joe O'Toole is set to leave Bristol Rovers after activating a release clause in his contract.

O'Toole joined the Pirates last summer on a three-year deal following a successful loan spell from Colchester.

The 25-year-old was the club's leading scorer this season with 15 goals, but it was not enough to preserve Rovers' Football League status as they were relegated to the Conference.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Everyone at the club would like to wish John-Joe well in the future."
