NIGHT’S Watch has been cleared of injury and remains in contention for a possible Caulfield Cup start.

Racing Victoria stewards said the explosive young stayer was lame in his off-hind leg following Naturalism Stakes victory.

But Darren Weir’s Warrnambool stable foreman Jarrod McLean said Night’s Watch was “100 per cent” when examined this morning.

Night’s Watch secured a start in the $5million Caulfield Cup on Saturday with the most important victory of his career and was immediately promoted to second favourite for the race.

A TAB $17 Cup quote before the Naturalism, he now sits on the second line at $8 behind stablemate Kings Will Dream ($4.50).

Weir will next start Night’s Watch in the Caulfield Stakes on October 13 – a week before the Cup.
