John Wall finally got the better of Derrick Rose as the Washington Wizards beat Chicago Bulls 102-86 in Friday's NBA action.

Wall had not beaten his fellow All-Star guard in five previous attempts, but his 16 points and 12 assists helped the Wizards establish a 20-point first-quarter lead and then hold on for the win.

Rose went eight for 19 on his way to 19 points, improving on a 25.5 percent shooting stat over his previous six games, but it was not enough to prevent the Bulls falling behind their Eastern Conference rivals.

Marcin Gortat added 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Wizards.

Elsewhere Golden State completed a perfect six-game home stand with a 112-94 victory over Cleveland, who are now 1-6 since losing LeBron James to injury.

And Atlanta set a new franchise record of eighth straight road wins as they broke Detroit's seven-match winning run with a 106-103 success.

Al Horford had 19 points and 16 rebounds while Paul Millsap scored 17 points for the Hawks, who have now won seven straight themselves.
