THE Herald Sun newspaper has doubled down on its support of Mark Knight and his controversial cartoon of Serena Williams.

On Tuesday the Melbourne publication published the cartoon, which was condemned by many around the world as racist.

Wednesday’s front page of the Herald Sun included a reprint of Knight’s caricature of Williams along with cartoons of other high profile people including Donald Trump, Tony Abbott and Pauline Hanson.

In an editorial the Herald Sun said criticism of the cartoon showed the world has officially gone mad.

“To argue the Williams drawing is racist is an attempt to defeat cartooning — and satire — with a politically-correct barrage.”

“But those who seek to prosecute their antiracial agenda by identifying racism in the Knight cartoon — where it does not exist — completely miss the point of the drawing.”

Knight said he has received death threats over the cartoon and his Twitter account has since been deleted.

Many people on social media were not happy with the Herald Sun standing form over the cartoon.
