If you have more than a passing memory of the 2002 World Series, this little tidbit might make you feel old: Darren Baker is now a college freshman and playing baseball at California.

Baker, the son of then-Giants manager Dusty Baker, became famous when he wandered onto the field to retrieve Kenny Lofton's bat during play in Game 5 and was pulled away from home plate by first baseman J.T. Snow before anyone could run into him or potentially hit him with a throw.

Fast-forward 15 1/2 years to the present: Snow and the now 19-year-old Baker got together in Berkeley for a segment on the Pac-12 Networks.

Baker is a regular for the Golden Bears, starting 25 of 26 games through Thursday. He's hitting .278/.307/.333 with a home run in 108 at-bats. He still knows home plate pretty well, too, having scored 22 runs.
