Gabriel Jesus has warned those hoping to contain him with Manchester City and Brazil that he “lives for goals”.

Having gone four games without finding the target, the 20-year-old forward rediscovered his shooting boots while away with his country on World Cup qualifying duty.

A brace in a 3-0 victory over Chile was followed by another in a 7-2 mauling of Stoke upon his return to domestic action.

Jesus now has 14 goals in just 21 appearances for City and has an ominous message for those intending to shackle him in the final third – he can get even better.

The Samba star told the Manchester Evening News following another stunning display of attacking firepower from Pep Guardiola’s side against Stoke: “I live for goals and just want to score as many as possible. It's great to score goals in the Brazil national team shirt, but I also love doing it in City colours, too.

“I am enjoying this great moment in my life. I had an injury last season but that didn't stop me. My team and management really helped me, and they have been great for me in my time in England.

“I learn a lot from Sergio every day, but not just him – I learn from all the team. We learn with each other – I pass on my knowledge to them, and they give theirs to me, so it's an exchange.”
