Sophie Devine has been named the player of the tournament for this edition of the Women's Big Bash League. The New Zealand all-rounder has hit a record 28 sixes for the Adelaide Strikers this season, the most in the men's or women's competitions, to go with a tournament-high 699 runs in 14 matches.

Devine has also picked 16 wickets at 20.25, and has become the second New Zealand player after Amy Satterthwaite to win the award.

Devine naturally features in the WBBL Team of the Tournament, which was announced ahead of the upcoming finals in Brisbane. Player votes were awarded on a 3-2-1 basis by each standing umpire at the end of each match, meaning a player can receive a maximum of six votes per match.

The WBBL Team of the Tournament is captained by Melbourne Renegades skipper Jess Duffin, and features players from six of the eight clubs. Brisbane Heat mentor Ashley Noffke has been picked as the coach of the side.

WBBL Team of the Tournament

Sophie Devine* (Adelaide Strikers): With 699 runs and 16 wickets across 14 games, Devine is an automatic pick in the XI. She is also the first overseas player. Her 28 sixes are nine more than her nearest competitor.

Beth Mooney (wicketkeeper, Brisbane Heat): With 672 runs in 14 games at an average of 74.66, Mooney is another natural pick and will also serve as the wicketkeeper in the side. She has hit as many as eight fifties this season.

Danni Wyatt* (Melbourne Renegades): 468 runs with a high score of 87 was enough for Wyatt to become the second overseas player in the XI. The belligerent English player has been picked for her impact performances that helped Renegades make the top four.

Meg Lanning (Perth Scorchers): Having started the season slowly, Lanning now sits third on the run-making chart -- a testament to her maturity as a player. She has 530 runs from 14 games, with a high score of 101. Lanning opens for Perth but in this WBBL XI, she comes at two-down given the superior striking prowess of the top three here.

Ellyse Perry (Sydney Sixers): Despite missing the final five games due to shoulder injury, Perry's performances were such that she still makes it to the WBBL XI. In nine matches, Perry scored 469 runs with a high score of 87* and picked four wickets.

Jess Duffin (captain, Melbourne Renegades): Also the captain of the side, Duffin has 500 runs from 13 matches this season. She took over Renegades's captaincy at the start of this season and the extra responsibility seems to have brought the best out of her.

Jess Jonassen (Brisbane Heat): Left-arm spinner Jonassen has picked 19 wickets this season, her best WBBL tally ever. She also has 348 runs to go with the bat, another personal best in WBBL for her.

Marizanne Kapp* (Sydney Sixers): The third and the final overseas player, Kapp has 15 wickets from 14 matches this season. The South Africa doesn't just bowl in the powerplay but is also handy with the bat. She has hit two fifties this season.

Molly Strano (Melbourne Renegades): The off-spinner can bowl anytime, be it powerplays or death overs, and it will be boom-or-bust situation when she takes the ball. Strano has 20 wickets from 14 games this season.

Megan Schutt (Adelaide Strikers): Schutt isn't quite setting the wicket-taking charts on fire this season -- 13 wickets in 14 games -- but she's a safe bet with the ball in hand, and boasts of the best economy this season.

Belinda Vakarewa (Hobart Hurricanes): With 20 wickets, Vakarewa tops the wickets charts and forces her way into the XI and is known to pick key wickets. Her move from the Thunder to the Hurricanes has clearly worked wonders for her.
