BRISBANE has confirmed Wayne Bennett will finish up as coach of the club after the 2019 NRL season.

Broncos chairman Karl Morris made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon, weeks after it was reported the club’s board had agreed not to extend Bennett’s contract.

“Having the decision made now puts an end to speculation and allows a clear focus on getting ready for next season,” Bennett said in a statement.

“I firmly believe in the playing group we have here at the club.”

Bennett’s contract expires after the 2019 season and will not be extended. It’s believed the supercoach will stick around to lead the team next year.

Broncos CEO Paul White said the club is “in no rush” to find Bennett’s replacement.

The likes of Anthony Seibold, Michael Maguire, and Kevin Walters have all been floated as possible replacements.
