Brad Scott accepts two-year USADA suspension
Brad Scott will be out of competition until 2020.
The 29-year-old UFC welterweight accepted a two-year sanction for a failed drug test taken this past May, the USADA announced Tuesday. Scott (11-6) tested positive for benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite, which was discovered in an in-competition urine sample submitted at UFC Liverpool. Cocaine is prohibited in-competition per the UFC’s Anti-Doping Policy.
“USADA conducted a thorough investigation into Scott’s case and determined Scott had not provided verifiable evidence regarding the circumstances that led to his positive test,” the statement reads.
Scott’s two-year period of ineligibility dates back to July 3, 2018 (also when it was first announced that Scott had been flagged for a potential violation), meaning he will be eligible to fight again on July 3, 2020. A two-year suspension is standard for a first offense involving a non-specified substance.
A runner-up on The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes back in 2012, Scott has gone 3-5 in the UFC competing primarily at 185 pounds. He returned to the welterweight division at UFC Liverpool, where he dropped a split decision to Carlo Pedersoli Jr.
