Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib did in fact shoot himself in the leg last summer, Talib’s lawyer confirmed in a letter to the Dallas Police Department, via .

The attorney’s account is consistent with what Talib told people during the Broncos’ visit to the White House on June 6, as well as with the Dallas police’s initial determination that Talib was not shot by another individual and that he actually shot himself.

According to , Talib told police he was “too drunk to remember” what happened. On the night of the incident, he was reportedly at a nightclub where two people were shot. But the person who brought Talib to the hospital told authorities that Talib’s injury occurred at Hamilton Park, where several people gathered after leaving the club.

The NFL told KUSA in an email Talib’s case is still being reviewed, meaning the league may determine that Talib was in violation of the personal conduct policy. If that determination is made, a suspension is likely.
