Alabama is expected to make current assistant Mike Locksley its offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports, but that doesn't mean former Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze won't be on the Crimson Tide staff.

Locksley, whose title in 2017 was co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, joined the Alabama staff in 2016 as an offensive analyst. He would replace Brian Daboll, who left after one season as offensive coordinator for a job with the NFL's Buffalo Bills.

Considered an excellent recruiter, Locksley would be coach Nick Saban's fourth offensive coordinator in three seasons. Locksley has been an offensive coordinator at Illinois and Maryland sandwiched around being head coach at New Mexico from 2009-11.

According to FootballScoop.com, unidentified coaches believe Freeze — who was at Alabama's football offices earlier this week — will wind up with the Crimson Tide in some capacity, most likely as an analyst, the same way Locksley joined the Alabama staff. However, FootballScoop.com cautioned, "this is not a done deal.
