Adrian Sutil will drive for Sauber next year in Formula One. Sauber made the announcement on Friday, one day after Sutil lost his place at Force India, which went to Sergio Perez. The German driver had driven for Force India since 2008, with a break in 2012.

Sutil said the talks with Sauber lasted "longer than planned (but) now it makes for an even better Christmas." Sutil is switching places with another German driver, Nico Hulkenberg, who has gone to Force India.

Sauber said it would make a decision in its second driver for 2014 later. Esteban Gutierrez of Mexico was this season's second driver, alongside Hulkenberg.

Sutil finished 13th in the championship, with a best of fifth in the Monaco Grand Prix.
