The first YotaPhone made its debut last year at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, but the smartphone only hit shelves in the summer and it was only available in several countries.

The Russian company that came up with this interesting concept of having two displays on a smartphone, one for reading ebooks and another one that could be used for phone-related stuff, introduced the YotaPhone in more markets by the end of the year.

Earlier this year, the YotaPhone 2 was announced as a sequel to somewhat popular YotaPhone. The new handset was officially unveiled in January 2014 during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) trade fair.

Unfortunately, 11 months have passed since the initial announcement and YotaPhone 2 has yet to make its debut on the market. This is the bad news, but on a more positive note, it looks like Yota, the company behind the dual-screen smartphone has just made an interesting announcement regarding its latest addition to the handset portfolio.

Fans of the concept will be pleased to know that YotaPhone 2 will be officially released on the market on December 3. The launch will take place in London during a by-invitation-only event.

It’s unclear whether or not the YotaPhone 2 will hit shelves in countries other than the UK, but we expect more details to be announced during the company’s launch event.

The smartphone will be introduced in Russia and other European countries next month

There is no info on the phone’s possible price tag, but considering the original model went on sale for $295 (€235) outright, we expect the next-generation YotaPhone to be priced around the same amount even if it comes with better features.

For those out of the loop, here is a quick rundown of what YotaPhone 2 has to offer. First of all, the smartphone will feature two 4.3-inch displays, an E Ink screen and an LCD HD (720p) display.

On the inside, the device has been confirmed to pack a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

There’s no mention of microSD card slot, so we can’t confirm it yet. However, we do know that the phone will feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing photo snapper for video calls and selfies.

Last but not least, YotaPhone 2 will be powered by a decent 2,550 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. The smartphone is expected to go on sale in Russia and other European countries by the end of the year.
