If you own a Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in India, the wait for the update to Android Oreo is almost over. The Chinese company has announced on Twitter that the over-the-air rollout is going to commence on June 29 - this Friday.

You will receive an update to MIUI 9.5, which is based on Android Oreo. Thus, the Redmi Note 5 Pro will finally get a newer base than the Android 7.1.2 Nougat it's been stuck with until now.

For those who are notoriously impatient, it's important to stress that the update will be going out in phases. So if you aren't part of the first phase, don't worry, be patient. It's going to arrive "sometime soon" anyway.

The exact build of the global ROM coming your way is 9.5.6.0.OEIMIFA. The update was in beta for a long time, some bugs were encountered and subsequently squished, and now it's ready to be called Stable.
