Verizon adds some unwanted features to the LG V20 in the latest update
Verizon is pushing another update for the LG V20, but the most important new feature added can be considered bloatware. The unwanted piece of software the Verizon is including in the update is called AppFlash.
According to Verizon, AppFlash is “a faster way to discover and use mobile apps.” The app is meant to offer LG V20 users apps recommendations that should allow them to find restaurants, movies, games, and music. It's also supposed to enable users to try an app before installing it (no download required).
However, AppFlash installs itself on the phone's Home screen and most likely monitors your use of the phone so that it can recommend you those apps. The good news is you can disable it to avoid AppFlash from tracking your activities, or simply not enable it.
The update that weighs in at about 930MB includes the December security patch and small tweak that will allow LG V20 users to see an LTE icon when their video calls are using an LTE network.
