Samsung's Quad HD Galaxy S5 LTE-A isn't much more expensive than the regular S5

Earlier this week, when Samsung announced the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, it didn’t say how much the handset would cost. However, The Korea Times reports that the new smartphone will be sold in South Korea for 945,000 won ($926). The original Galaxy S5 costs 866,800 won ($850) there, so the new model isn’t much more expensive.

The Galaxy S5 LTE-A brings several improvements over the regular S5, including a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels, a quad-core Snadpragon 805 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, and 3GB of RAM. Of course, there’s also support for LTE Cat 6 (for theoretical network speeds of up to 225Mbps).

A couple of days ago, Samsung reportedly confirmed that the Galaxy S5 LTE-A would not be released internationally. So the handset will be available only in South Korea, where it should go on sale before the end of this month (in five color versions: black, white, blue, gold, red, and pink).

Even if this S5 LTE-A won’t be available outside of Korea, we should still expect Samsung to introduce a Quad HD smartphone (Galaxy S5 Prime / Galaxy F) for the global market later this year.
