We had almost lost hope that the Samsung Z1 would ever arrive in the wild, when the Korean tech giant finally announced its first Tizen-based smartphone a few weeks ago.

The company has rolled out the device in the Indian market where it had anticipated the handset would excite customers thanks to its low price.

But as the first reviews came pouring in, it became pretty clear that the Samsung Z1 is far from being a hit. Most reviewers are complaining about the lack of applications and the low quality of the camera, reports Reuters.

For those who don’t remember, the Z1 arrives with a 4-inch display with 480 x 800 pixel resolution and a 1.2GHz dual-core CPU fitted with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

The phone has a 3.1MP / 0.3MP camera combo and a 1,500 mAh battery on the inside. Samsung has been advertising for the Z1, saying the Tizen platform is much lighter than the competition, so customers should expect the handset to run smoothly.

However, even if the Z1’s $91 / €78 price tag is extremely low, customers can easily find cheap Android devices which offer much better specifications.

The Indian smartphone market is crowded as it is and the Z1 doesn't seem to have a bright future ahead of it.
