Samsung has a long history of Galaxy S mini smartphones, but for whatever reason the company did not launch such a device last year. Although the Galaxy S6 mini was rumored at some point, the handset never made it to market.

After launching the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge to great success, Samsung is now rumored to have a mini version in the pipeline. The folks over at SamMobile report Taiwanese media claims Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S7 mini in the next couple of months.
The Galaxy S7 mini might be an answer to Apple’s iPhone SE, which is supposed to be unveiled on March 21. The iPhone SE is expected to feature a 4-inch display and an A9 processor inside.
On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy S7 mini will come with a 4.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that should support HD (720p) resolution. For the time being, there’s no information on whether or not the phone will come with Always-on feature that’s one of the highlights of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge flagships.
Even though the Galaxy S7 mini might not be so appealing on the outside, the smartphone is supposed to pack very powerful hardware inside.
Very powerful specs inside The specs might include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, but there should be a different version with Samsung’s Exynos 8890 chipset as well.
Also, the Galaxy S7 mini should pack 3GB of RAM instead of 4GB featured by the standard model. Another major selling point of the smartphone should be the 12-megapixels rear-facing camera with dual pixel technology.
The Galaxy S7 mini would be only 9.9mm thin and is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks. Sadly, there’s no way to confirm that any of the information published by the Taiwanese media is accurate, so file this under rumors until we get more details.
