Earlier today, we told you that T-Mobile started rolling out the Android 5.1.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S5, but the current Galaxy S6 hasn’t been forgotten either.

The update has been on the radar for quite some time, and now we’re seeing it arrive into the wild. According to French website Planet Galaxy, the new OS build has started arriving on the Galaxy S6 in the country and will probably spread out throughout Europe in the coming days.
The update adds new features

After you install Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on the device, you should be noticing a few changes. For example, the notification shade area is no longer home to the Quick Connect and S Finder buttons, which gives things a cleaner look.

Users will also be able to arrange the apps in the app drawer alphabetically. This feature had been offered on other Samsung models, but it wasn’t available with the original TouchWiz the Galaxy S6 shipped out with.

Furthermore, as it was anticipated, the new software does bring about RAW support and lower ISO values for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge. It’s just that these feats can’t be accessed through the stock camera app.

In order to be able to use these new functions, you’ll need to download any third-party camera app from the Google Play Store that features support for the Lollipop Camera2 API.

On the negative side of things, French users who have updated to the new build claim that the RAM management issues the Galaxy S6 has been faced with haven’t been fixed. According to them, the phone boots at 58% utilization, but only a few minutes later it jumps to a whopping 85%. Maybe the next firmware will do the trick.
The Galaxy S6 edge is also getting the update

If you were wondering, the Galaxy S6 edge is also receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, albeit owners of this model started getting the new software a few hours after the Galaxy S6 (as seen at Sam Mobile).

The new build is being made available via Kies, but we should expect to see the over-the-air (OTA) update make its way into the wild soon enough. If you’re feeling restless, you could try checking for its availability manually by going to the Check now button in the Settings > About device > Software updates menu on your phone.
