Motorola DROID Turbo to Get Android 5.1 Lollipop Starting June 10
Back in March we told you that Motorola announced that the DROID Turbo smartphone won’t be getting Android 5.0 Lollipop treatment, but will be updated to Android 5.1 directly.
But back then we weren’t given any specific dates of when that might happen, so DROID Turbo owners were left hoping they wouldn’t be forced to wait long. Well a recent report coming out of IBT apparently reveals the date of when the software update will begin going out to users.
A lot of Motorola handsets like the Moto X and Moto G have already received Android 5.1 not to mention Android 5.0, so a lot of DROID Turbo users were probably frustrated by being stuck at Android 4.4 KitKat.
Motorola DROID Turbo is getting Lollipop, finally
Well according to the new information, Motorola will start rolling out Android 5.1 for the said smartphone starting on June 10, so we’re just a few days ahead of the big happening.
Like with most updates, some owners of the phone will be hit sooner, while others will have to wait a few days or even a few weeks, depending on location. Users can also take the proactive route and try to check if the update has arrived by checking their phone manually via Settings>System Updates.
The update will arrive as build number 23.11.23 and will include a lot of the features characteristic to both Android 5.0 and Android 5.1 including Lock Screen notifications, Material Design, the new Recent Apps page, two-finger Quick Settings menu from any page, battery saver mode via Project Volta and lots more.
At the moment, we don’t know whether Motorola will include some of its own tweaks into the new software piece, but we’re bound to find out in a few days.
Motorola DROID Turbo specs
The Motorola DROID Turbo saw the light of day back in October 2014 arriving with a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution.
The phone drew life from a Snapdragon 805 SoC working hand in hand with 3GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage
With specs like that, it was a real shame the phone remained stuck at Android 4.4 KitKat. But finally Motorola is delivering what was promised.
