Microsoft has recently released a new update for OneDrive on Windows Phone, implementing a revised UI that makes the application a bit more eye candy, but it turns out that some users find the new interface pretty confusing and want the company to make some changes in this regard.

The OneDrive UserVoice feedback collecting channel holds quite a lot of complaints pointing to the problems in the new interface of the application for Windows Phone devices.

Many of the users who posted on this page explained that “the big blue bar across the top is distracting,” while other design elements that were implemented in this new version do not really fit the fresh design of the app.

“The mini icons, hamburger and oddly placed search have together created a less fluid design, that lacks cohesion. Please bring back the proper pivot menu,” one user says.

Microsoft: We're listening!

In a post published as a reply to the original feature request, Microsoft explained that the company was indeed listening to complaints, so the future version of OneDrive for Windows Phone would bring some changes in this regard. No other specifics were provided, so it's hard to tell when the app will actually arrive.

“We’ve heard the feedback on the new UI in our latest update to the Windows Phone app. We’re in the process of improving the usability and polish of our app. Expect to see changes in our next update,” it said.

Some users consider that, with the new OneDrive update, Microsoft actually made one step in the wrong direction, as the application now has Android-inspired design elements that push it away from the Metro design concept that was introduced with Windows 8.
Users appreciating Microsoft's quick response

Many of those who found the new OneDrive app less intuitive and wanted the company to implement some design changes were really surprised with Microsoft's quick answer and explained on the feedback platform that the Windows Phone app needed to be improved in such a way “that it stands out against both iOS and Android.”

“We were worried that Windows Phone would not be itself without the Pivot Menu UI,” one user added, so it's pretty clear that the collaboration between Microsoft and users is going in the right direction.

As mentioned, Microsoft is working on this new update as we speak, but for the moment, there's absolutely no indication as to when the company is planning to reveal the new version. We've reached out to Microsoft for more words on this and will come back when we get an answer.
