Including its Honor sub-brand, Huawei has not one and not two, but three impressive smartphones powered by that fancy new 7nm-based Kirin 980 processor in the pipeline. And alongside the announcement of four snazzy P20 Pro models, the world’s second-largest handset vendor has just unveiled the official launch date of the Mate 20 “Series” at IFA Berlin.

The highly anticipated Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are scheduled to see daylight in London on October 16, although actual sales will probably kick off a little further down the line.

Obviously, US availability remains unlikely, unless retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, and B&H Photo Video will continue to ignore the government’s recommendations and choose to support one or both flagship models with unlocked GSM connectivity.

Just like last year, when the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro were made official on the exact same date unveiled today, it seems as though Huawei will be beaten to market by Apple and Google.
But recently leaked renders have showcased objectively sleeker designs than the Pixel 3 and 3 XL, with triple rear-facing camera combos in tow that iPhones are only expected to adopt next year.

The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro might be hiding a number of other cool tricks up their sleeves, including crazy fast wireless charging capabilities, pre-installed Android 9 Pie software, stellar battery capacity, in-display fingerprint recognition technology, and 3D face scanning.

Bottom line, you should definitely “mark your calendars” for October 16, 2018, and perhaps hold off on buying the Galaxy Note 9 before checking out everything these two Kirin 980 powerhouses have to offer.
