First Galaxy Note 9 benchmarks show it can't beat the iPhone X
It didn’t take long for the brand-new Note 9 to be put against rival smartphones in benchmark tests. Tom’s guide tested the 6GB, Snapdragon 845 version of the Galaxy Note 9, using Geekbench 4 and 3DMark Slingshot Extreme 3.1.
Without further ado, here are the results:

As the name implies, Geekbench 4 tests the performance of the processors under all-core load. At 8,876, the Note 9 scored far below the other thousand-dollar device, the iPhone X, and came third behind the much cheaper OnePlus 6. The improvement over its predecessor, the Note 8, however, is quite significant - more than 35%. Google’s own flagship phone placed last with 6,282.

This test tries to squeeze the most of devices’ graphics chips. While still achieving an admirable score, the Note 9 is again behind the iPhone X and the OnePlus 6. It must be noted that the OnePlus 6 used was the 8GB RAM version, giving it an edge in that test. It seems that the Note 9 shares more than visual similarities with the Galaxy S9+, which has an almost identical result.
Let’s not forget that while the OnePlus 6, Note 9 and Galaxy S9+ were released this year, the iPhone X is a 2017 model, with a new one coming in just a couple of months.
Of course, stress tests don’t translate perfectly to daily use, but still give a good idea about the capabilities of different devices under similar conditions.
