Android 5.0 Lollipop is officially released today, though that doesn’t mean anything for those who haven’t ordered the Nexus 9 tablet or the Nexus 6 smartphone.

These are the only devices that currently ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system out of the box, and for a while they will also be the only one on the market to run this version of OS.

Although Motorola, HTC, Sony and a few other handset makers confirmed they would release Lollipop updates for their products as soon as possible, it will take some time until engineers make the necessary tweaking for the Android 5.0 build to be compatible on their smartphones.

That being said, Samsung is one of the companies that haven’t made any official announcements regarding the Android 5.0 Lollipop update roadmap for its smartphones.

But that doesn’t mean its engineers do not work on bringing the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop on some of its high-end smartphones, such as Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S5.

Speaking of Galaxy S5 and Lollipop, a preliminary version of the update leaked a few weeks ago, but it did not show a lot of work from Samsung’s part.

However, the folks over at SamMobile have been given another Lollipop build for Galaxy S5, which proves Samsung’s engineers made a lot of improvements over the previous version.

Aside from the fact that the Android L version of the build has been replaced with the official numbering, Android 5.0, this version also includes lots of the changes that are already available in the final iteration.

Samsung made lots of improvements and changes of its own

Moreover, Samsung also included some of its own improvements, such as a new Galaxy Note 4 fingerprint lock screen, along with a new thinner font that’s present throughout the whole system.

There are a lot of tweaks included as well, along with visual changes, such as new animations and the addition of a brightness slider in the notification center that has a yellow color.

There’s also a new UI for setting up the wallpaper for the home screen, as well as an improved Settings UI with new icon colors.

In the Contacts section there’s a new search box, but the green graphics elements of the Android 5.0 Lollipop seem to have been replaced by Samsung’s TouchWiz blue color.

Many more changes have been included in this version of Android 5.0 Lollipop for Samsung Galaxy S5, which is not yet the final one. More details on the matter are available in the video below. Watch it and share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
