CEG TEK International Ira M. Siegel sent me settlement for illegal torrents

Just wanted to throw out a warning to be careful and hide your tracks when downloading torrents!
I just recieved a pretty nasty email saying that I'm being offered a settlement and to pay or else the price will go up when lawyers get involved.
I will keep this thread up to date on how this all turns out.

Right now I'm thinking about laying low and if something comes out of it, I will blame it on my wireless router getting hacked...

I've done research online about Ira and from what I've seen he rarely takes people to court, he relys on panic and hopes people just pay the settlement.

We'll see...:(

@scottsdale buy a seedbox or a VPN and happy torrenting ;)

I did some research and went with seedstuff.ca for my seedbox and was blown away with how easy and FAST it was!! I will never use utorrent on my computer. I appreciate the advice. While seedbox's don't provide 100% protection they do help with your ratio! I will look around this forum for a good movie torrent site. =)

I am on the same boat as you and I have 2 more weeks to respond to their settlement offer. I did a lot of research online and do not have a definite answer yet to what I should do. I would like to believe he doesn't sue me if I do not respond, but I am also kind of scared of what might be the repercussions if he really does sue me. From what I read in different online blogs, most people believe that these companies would just let it slide if we ignore them, but none of these people seem to have any personal experience with that. I would be glad if you could update me with what you did and how's it going right now? Have you heard back from them, or did it just go away? It would be so much appreciated if you could share your experience.
