Here’s the first trailer for Eminem’s new VR documentary ‘Marshall From Detroit’

Eminem has unveiled the first trailer for his new virtual reality documentary, Marshall From Detroit.

Set to premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, the film was made by Felix & Paul Studios and seeks to show the rapper’s hometown through his own eyes.

The first short teaser to be shared features Eminem having a conversation with Sway Calloway, while allowing viewers to have a 360-degree view of the city while cruising around.

“Our idea was to extend the blanket of intimacy offered by VR beyond the once-in-a-lifetime ride with Marshall and introduce you to a more mystic version of Detroit you could never see for yourself,” director Caleb Slain told Variety. “We wanted to take the ‘reality’ out of VR and cook it down into something more unreal, but also truthful.”

The studio’s Paul Raphael added: “Our studio has a history of using technology to tell stories in new, more immersive ways, to create experiences that are at the convergence of the intimate and the extraordinary. Marshall From Detroit is a sparkling expression of that, inviting you on a surreal ride through Detroit with Eminem himself.”

The film will debut on Saturday, before being made available to watch on Facebook’s Oculus Go and Rift VR in February.

Meanwhile, it recently emerged that Eminem sold more albums than anyone in 2018, and was the only solo artist to sell more than 500,00 ‘pure’ albums last year.

Fans are currently living in the hope that more world tour dates will follow after the release of his ‘surprise’ album ‘Kamikaze‘.
