The soundtrack for Freddy’s Nightmares is finally being released after 33 years. Freddy’s Nightmares was the official Nightmare on Elm Street TV show that ran from 1988-1990. Robert Englund’s Freddy Krueger introduced each episode, and the series premiere even showed the character’s backstory in an episode directed by Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chain Saw Massacre). After the premiere, the episodes themselves had nothing to do with A Nightmare on Elm Street, acting like a typical horror anthology.

Even though the short-lived series may have been forgotten over the years, the official soundtrack is now being released. Fans can pick up Freddy’s Nightmares’ broadcast soundtrack on cassette tape or a single LP. Terror Vision was also offering a limited edition 3xLP version with an episode guide and four holographic stickers, which is already sold out. There are variants available for the single LP; the indigo and hot pink colored vinyls are limited to 500 copies.

The release of Freddy’s Nightmares soundtrack will be a unique addition to one’s collection, but it isn’t what fans have been clamoring for for years. Select episodes of Freddy’s Nightmares have been released on VHS. However, despite the popularity of Freddy Krueger, the series has never been fully released and remastered on DVD or Blu-ray. There may not be a wide enough interest for Warner Home Video to spend money on a home release of Freddy’s Nightmares, but maybe the release of this vinyl will spark a bit more interest in the 33-year-old TV show.
