Hi, can anyone reccomend me a cheap dedicated ip seedbox? I used shared ip seedboxes a lot of time but these days some Chinese trackers dont allow them. I searched some but all dedicateds are so expensive. Any suggestions?

@jagten what's ur budget and what's ur demands I mean with respect to disk space and bandwidth :)
@jagten I tried searching and asking my friends about dedicated ip seedbox but all had same view its way too expensive compare to shared ip
Just I was thinking is it Ok to buy dedicated vps server and transloading rutorrent/transmission script that may give comfort to ur pocket to some extent :)
Uhh these things are too complicated for an old man like me :vollkommenauf:
I got a dedicated Server with an 8 core atom processor, 8 gb ram and 1 TB space on 1 GBPS Unlimited from oneprovider.com Setup time was roughly a day but it's only 15 euro or around $16.40 USD a month:)
Edit: You'd need knowledge to admin a linux box to setup the seedbox as it only comes with a bare operating system but I am happy to help a fellow member!
Is there is difference between dedicated seedbox and dedicated ip seedbox
Have a look at the KS-1 from Kimsufi, I've been using one for years. It's around 5 USD/month and comes with a 500GB HDD and a 100 Mbps connection with no bandwidth limits. It also has dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. It's no frills, and you'll want to be comfortable with Linux, but I've been very happy with its performance for the price.
They can be hard to come by through the normal web interface, they seem to always be out of stock, but that's because they sell out so fast when one becomes available. If you use something like Kimi Checker you'll have more luck.
id look at the vps servers offered at time4vps.eu, they have storage vps plans and windows and linux vps plans and i have used them as seedboxes. the linux plans require knowledge of how to use ssh but the windows vps run windows server with the usual windows desktop ui. The storage vps start at 4.99 euro and their other vps start at 1.99 euro for linux and 9.99 euro with windows
Autodl-irssi can be installed fairly easily, you won't need to know coding per-se, but you will need to know how to configure a Linux machine. This includes installing packages, writing config files, navigating directories, etc. Usually this is done from the command-line not a point and click GUI.
There is a popular script out there called seedbox-from-scratch that might help you -- I've heard good things but I personally don't have any experience with it.
@masonos how hard would it be for someone to do that setup (without knowledge)
darn I am no good with linux, I understand the idea just no good at it
Have you guys tried this?
https://quickbox.io/
nope. So can I possibly ask for someones assitance if I buy a kimsufi server. I want to buy the 7$ one and have utorrent/vpn/ftp on it. Would that be a hard achievement
I'm still looking for this. Found this; https://superseeder.eu/cart.php?gid=27 for 17 $ per month but still couldn't decide, worried about their speed.
@jagten That server seems fine if you're just planning on using it as a seedbox -- it has more horespower than the KS-1 that I was discussing in a previous post. What part of the speed were you concerned about, network, CPU, HDD?
would anyone be whilling to help me step by step once i get a kimi server? To help me set it up as a box. My brain injury took away my years of knowledge
@jagten They say that it's a 200Mbps network up to 1Gbps. Assuming you only get 200Mbps you should be able to upload and download at ~25 MB/s. That's pretty fast, you probably won't have much problem with upload bandwidth. My best advice for you is to focus on being one of the first members of the swarm using something like autodl-irssi or flexget with an irc tie in. The earliest members of the swarm tend to get the most upload opportunities in my experience.
will the ppl from https://quickbox.io/ install everything for me? What os does kimsufi run on because I am reading that quickbox only works on certain OS's.
I want to get a server and turn it into a seedbox with open vpn/vnc/rutorrent/ftp access and security of my identity
Kimsufi supports lots of linux distributions, they list them on their website:
- Arch Linux
- CentOS
- Debian
- Fedora
- FreeBSD
- Gentoo
- openSUSE
- Slackware
- Ubuntu Server
- Ubuntu Desktop
Quickbox.io does offer install services. Just read their website, they list their offerings under the Marketplace menu.
my question is, how secure will it be since I know nothing at all about linux. Would I be better to get a seed box and on the side get a kim server and learn? Before I do any seeding. To protect myself
If you're looking to learn linux then I'd say what's probably the best way for you would be to buy nothing and instead install virtualbox on your machine and work with linux in a VM. There's no reason for you to have to have a server in a data center to learn what you're doing. A small linux VM won't require many resources and you can keep wiping it and starting over if you mess things up.
