Microsoft’s Universal Foldable Keyboard Goes on Sale, Works with Windows Phone, iOS,

Microsoft presented its new Universal Foldable Keyboard a few months ago, and the device went on sale this morning, so if you’re looking for a keyboard that’s extremely easy to carry around and doesn’t cost a fortune, this could be the right choice.

Just as its name suggests, this keyboard is fully foldable, which means that it easily slips into any backpack or even a pocket. It can connect via Bluetooth to practically any device out there, including phones and tablets, and can work with Windows Phone, iOS, and Android handsets.

It requires Windows 8 or 8.1, Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, Apple iOS 7 or newer, Android 4.3 or newer, so pretty much every new device should work okay. Microsoft explains that every single device that you want to connect to the keyboard must be Bluetooth 4.0-enabled and must have Human Interface Device (HID) keyboard support.

That’s why, for Windows Phone, you need 8.1 Update 2 to use it, as this is the only version that features support for HID keyboards.
Spill-resistant and only 5mm thin

The foldable keyboard, which costs only $99.95 today, is spill-resistant, with Microsoft saying that it comes with water-repellent keys and fabric to make sure that there’s no risk if you use it on the kitchen table.

At the same time, despite the foldable design, the keyboard is extremely thin, measuring only 5 millimeters, so it’s extremely easy not only to carry around but also to use on pretty much any hard surface.

What’s more, the device can be paired via Bluetooth with two different devices at the same time, and you can switch from one to another using the dedicated buttons at the top. The built-in battery provides enough autonomy for three months, but it can also be recharged whenever it gets drained.
