Xbox Game Pass & Ori Reportedly Coming To Nintendo Switch
A new rumor suggests that Xbox Game Pass and several other Xbox exclusive titles - like Ori and the Blind Forest - are coming to the Nintendo Switch. This report arrives at a time when a number of rumors pertaining to Nintendo have begun to float around. The most prominent of these reports is word that Scalebound may be coming to Nintendo Switch as a new exclusive title from PlatinumGames. Nothing has confirmed one way or the other that this is the case, but Nintendo has had a very hectic slate of announcements thus far.
Most recently, the company announced that the President and COO of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, will be retiring in April. From a software front, news hasn't been slow either, with the reveal that The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening will be arriving on Nintendo Switch by the end of 2019. It's expected that a Pokémon on Switch announcement will be arriving sooner rather than later as well, but it's another company entirely that's now making headlines for supposed plans involving Nintendo's current console.
According to a new report from Direct-Feed Games, Xbox Game Pass could very well be on its way to Nintendo Switch. The titles present on the service would be available to stream through Microsoft's new "Netflix for games" platform known as xCloud, and Nintendo Switch owners would presumably be able to access and play the catalog of games (which features games from the franchises like Banjo-Kazooie, Halo, Gears of War, and more) for a modest subscription fee.
All of this is said to be arriving through an Xbox app that could appear on the Switch platform as soon as this year. The app is said to feature both xCloud and GamePass, presumably allowing Nintendo owners to subscribe to the program on a monthly basis. This report won't surprise gamers that listened carefully to Xbox head Phil Spencer explain the reasoning behind why Microsoft Studios rebranded to Xbox Game Studios recently, as he justified the change by stating that "Xbox is our gaming brand across all devices, no matter how or where you want to play, or who you want to play with."
Not content on stopping there, Direct-Feed Games also reports that not all games will be limited to streaming, as Ori and the Blind Forest is said to be receiving a port to Nintendo Switch. Presumably, this would be the first of several ports to arrive on the platform, with other games like Lucky's Tale, Cuphead, and even the forthcoming Battletoads reboot looking like probable games destined for the console. To clarify, those three titles coming to Switch are simply speculation at this point, but it doesn't seem all that far-fetched given this rumor.
